Thou Shall Hev a Fishy…
Enspire were approached to create a brand for Northumberland Seafood, the seafood brand design project also included creating a sub brand for their fish box scheme and to design and build a website to promote, sell and educate the public about Northumberland seafood.
The Seafood Brand design project was part of Amble Development Trusts’ long term objective to transform Amble into a visitor destination excelling in seafood, the Northumberland Seafood Centre was built to promote and sell Northumberland Seafood.
Enspire Design created the Northumberland Seafood brand which would become the face of the initiative and signage for the seafood centre in Amble.
With the need to catch and consume fish in a more sustainable way, Enspire also created the brand for the Creel Fish club, a fish box scheme in which fish lovers can sign up to and receive a sample of the latest catch that week. Find out more about how the Creel Club works here.
As EU legislation now requires fishermen to land 100% of their catch by law, meaning that a much larger percentage of lesser known fish is landed in UK harbours. Along with the Northumberland Seafood brand design Enspire also developed the sub brand for The Creel Club called Ugly Fish which members could opt in to. It is designed to encourage more people into eating less popular types of seafood which are in season, in order to protect the fish stocks of the more commonly overfished breeds such as Salmon and Cod.
As part of the initiative behind the scheme is focused on educating the public about alternative less popular fish, it was essential that the website educated the public about the types of fish available on the North east coast and recipes that the fish could be used for.
The website is now live, so why not take a look at it yourself at northumberlandseafood.co.uk
